US warns against Grzegorz Braun's far‑right party joining future Polish government

U.S. officials have publicly stated that they do not envision Grzegorz Braun’s nationalist party playing a role in any future Polish administration. Ellen Germain, the Biden administration’s special envoy on Holocaust remembrance, told Polish media that extremist right‑wing formations such as Braun’s are incompatible with democratic governance, and warned that their participation could strain U.S.–Poland relations. The United States also signaled concern that Braun’s rhetoric might affect the historical memory of the Holocaust and broader human‑rights standards.

Polish authorities have reacted to the remarks, with members of the ruling Law and Justice party characterising the U.S. comments as interference in Poland’s internal affairs. The episode comes ahead of Poland’s parliamentary elections, where Braun’s party seeks to increase its parliamentary presence. Both sides emphasise the importance of maintaining democratic stability and bilateral cooperation amid rising political tensions in Central Europe.
