U.S. Vice President JD Vance Says American and Israeli Interests Diverge on Iran Policy

U.S. Vice President JD Vance told Fox News host Jesse Watters that the United States and Israel share many interests but differ on certain issues, especially the approach toward Iran’s nuclear program. Vance emphasized that Washington’s primary goal is to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and that the administration is working toward a long‑term settlement, even if Israel does not fully support the strategy.

The comments came after President Donald Trump warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to hold off on further strikes against Iran following an exchange of attacks between the two countries. Trump also predicted a decisive U.S. victory over Iran and a decline in oil prices. Iranian officials, however, described negotiations with the United States as stalled.

Vance’s remarks highlight a potential strain in the U.S.–Israel partnership as the two allies navigate differing priorities in the Middle East.
