Morena senators dodge questions over alleged US visa revocations

Senator Adán Augusto López Hernández of Mexico's ruling Morena party declined to confirm whether his U.S. visa has been revoked, repeatedly stating he does not give statements when pressed by reporters. The speculation follows reports linking the alleged revocation to U.S. investigations into fuel‑smuggling networks, though neither the U.S. State Department nor Mexican authorities have provided confirmation.

In a related episode, Senator Olga Sosa displayed her U.S. visa to the press, asserting that she recently traveled to the United States and has no notice of any cancellation. She said the visa, issued in May 2023 and valid until 2033, remains active and that she plans to attend an energy forum in the U.S. in September. Both cases occur amid circulating rumors that several Morena politicians from Tamaulipas and other states may face restrictions on their U.S. travel documents.

Morena leaders, including party coordinator Ignacio Mier Velazco, have publicly denied that any visas have been withdrawn, and no official documentation has emerged to substantiate the claims.
