U.S. Voters Cite Gas Prices as Key Factor in Upcoming Election
A recent Politico poll of 2,061 registered Americans found that 57% consider the current cost of living the worst they have ever experienced, with rising gasoline prices a major concern. The poll reported that 46% say higher gas prices will influence how they vote in the November elections, while 31% say the price hikes make them more likely to support the opposing party.
When asked who bears responsibility for the economy, 32% placed full blame on President Donald Trump, compared with 10% who hold President Joe Biden fully accountable. The survey also highlighted a split among Republican voters, noting that self‑identified MAGA supporters tend to underestimate price increases, suggesting strain within the GOP coalition ahead of the midterms.
