US voters doubt Trump's Iran war as public support stays low

A new Politico poll shows only 38 % of American voters back President Donald Trump’s military action against Iran, with 41 % saying he lacks a clear plan and just 15 % believing the objectives have been achieved. The same survey finds that a sizable share of respondents—including many of Trump’s 2024 supporters—feel the war does not benefit the United States and that the president is focusing too much on foreign issues.

Analysts quoted in an opinion piece argue that the Iranian operation has failed to meet its political goals and has caused significant loss of life, noting more than 10,000 deaths in Iran and highlighting the broader costs of recent US‑led conflicts. The commentary links the limited public backing to broader questions about the effectiveness of American military power in achieving foreign‑policy aims.
