US voters overwhelmingly support public healthcare price transparency

A new poll conducted by Noble Predictive Insights reveals that 88% of American voters believe it is at least “somewhat important” for hospitals and healthcare providers to publicly disclose prices before patients receive care. The survey, which included 2,533 registered voters across Republican, Democratic, and Independent affiliations, showed that only 8% of respondents felt price transparency was not important.

Demographic data indicates that voters aged 65 and older, as well as those with college or post-graduate degrees, expressed the strongest support for price disclosure. Specifically, 91% of voters aged 65 or older deemed it important.

This public sentiment follows recent legislative movement in the United States Senate regarding the Patients Deserve Price Tags Act. The proposed legislation would require hospitals and insurance providers to report negotiated rates, costs, and cash prices for various services, including surgery centers, imaging labs, and clinical labs. Senator Roger Marshall, a sponsor of the bill, has stated the measure aims to lower healthcare costs for American families.
