U.S. Water Safety Campaigns Urge Summer Swimmers to Take Precautions

State and local agencies are urging families to prioritize water safety as temperatures rise. Minnesota officials note five boating fatalities and 13 drownings in the first nine months of 2025, remind that children under ten must wear life jackets, and promote swim‑lesson programs at community pools and the Albert Lea Family YMCA.

San Bernardino County Fire officials echo the call, offering a checklist that includes constant supervision of children, installing pool barriers, using properly fitted life jackets, enrolling kids in age‑appropriate swim lessons, avoiding distractions while supervising, never swimming alone, and learning CPR and basic first aid. The department encourages residents to become CPR‑certified through the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.

Both messages stress that early intervention can save lives and that simple, proactive measures can prevent drownings and other water‑related emergencies during the summer season.
