US watercraft accidents prompt swift rescues in Maine and Colorado

A boat fire near the Naples Causeway in Naples, Maine, was quickly extinguished on Saturday by jet‑skier riders who used their motors to spray water onto the flames. The fire was out before the Naples Fire Department arrived; the damaged boat was towed ashore and deemed likely unsalvageable.

At Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins, Colorado, two personal watercraft collided with people in the water. Emergency crews from the Poudre Fire Authority and Larimer County responded, rescuing all individuals without injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
