US White House asks Congress for $87.6 billion extra funding for Iran operation

White House Office of Management and Budget director Russell Vought sent a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson requesting an additional $87.6 billion from Congress. The bulk of the funding is earmarked for the "Epic Fury Operation" aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear‑armed threat.

The request also includes $1.4 billion for Ebola response in Central Africa, $11.1 billion to support American farmers, $500 million for ongoing restoration projects in Washington, D.C., and $1 billion for the final design and construction of a modernized Penn Station in New York. Of the $67.1 billion sought for the Department of Defense, $17.3 billion would cover operational costs and $21 billion would fund munitions.
