US Wildlife Agencies Address Unusual Bear Incidents in Colorado, Nevada

Colorado Parks and Wildlife officer Kyle Bond responded to a call in Steamboat Springs after witnesses saw a bear feeding on the carcass of another bear near Highway 40. The animal later escaped, and wildlife officers removed the dead bear and continue to monitor the area, noting that such behavior is rare in town.

In Nevada, the Department of Wildlife employs two Karelian Bear Dogs, Badger and Banjo, to deter black bears that have become accustomed to human presence. The dogs are used to chase, corner, and give bears an unpleasant experience, helping reduce conflicts and keep both residents and wildlife staff safer while preserving the bears on the landscape.
