U.S. Women's Lacrosse Team Arrives in Tokyo for 2026 Championship

The U.S. women’s national lacrosse team touched down at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on July 21 ahead of the Nissin Foods 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship. Head coach Acacia Walker‑Weinstein, along with associate head coach Jen Kent and a 22‑player roster that includes 2026 Tewaaraton Award winner Madison Taylor, began a five‑day training camp in Tokyo after staging a final practice session at UCLA.

Walker‑Weinstein said, "It’s been a long time coming," adding that the squad is ready to "absorb the environment" and compete for a fifth straight title. The team will practice daily through Friday before the tournament opens with a match against Ireland on July 25. Travel disruptions affected several players, with a delayed flight from New York causing a reduced practice on Saturday.

The championship schedule features group‑stage games against Ireland, the Haudenosaunee Nationals and Chinese Taipei, followed by quarter‑finals, semi‑finals and medal matches through August 2. The U.S. hopes to continue its dominance in the sport as the tournament unfolds in Tokyo.
