U.S. World Cup Visitors Praise Southern Hospitality and International Broadcast Team

During the FIFA World Cup in the United States, an Irish YouTube couple, Scott Young and Amy Jane Dinsmore, visited the Liberty Restaurant & Diner in Scottsboro, Alabama. They described the staff’s warmth, noting the waitress calling Amy "baby," and said they did not want to leave the state after being moved to tears by the hospitality and the Southern-style meals of fried catfish, chicken, cornbread and hush‑puppies.

At the same time, an English journalist covering the tournament observed that Fox Sports’ U.S. broadcast relied heavily on British and other overseas commentators. Despite Fox paying $485 million for the U.S. rights, the lead presenting team and most analysts were drawn from the United Kingdom and elsewhere, making the coverage feel less American than expected.
