The ProJo union is calling on USA TODAY Network to terminate its partnership with Palantir Technologies. The union expressed concerns regarding the use of artificial intelligence in newsrooms and the impact on human-led journalism.

USA TODAY Network CEO Mike Reed stated that the partnership is intended to “strengthen how we collect, connect and activate audience data to drive more effective and faster monetization across our platform.” The company, formerly known as Gannett, operates more than 200 local newspapers in the United States, including the Providence Journal.
