USA Women's Lacrosse Wins Fifth Straight World Title in Tokyo

The United States Women’s National Lacrosse Team captured its fifth consecutive gold medal at the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Tokyo, Japan, defeating Canada 16‑4 in the final at Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium. Head coach Acacia Walker‑Weinstein said the team “accomplished all our goals that we set out to do at the beginning of this journey.”

Goalkeeper Shea Dolce recorded seven saves in the first half, while midfielder Ally Kennedy was named tournament MVP for her two goals, an assist and strong draw control. Defensive coordinator Melissa Lehman, a Rutgers alumna, helped the U.S. limit opponents to 27 goals across six games. The victory extends the U.S. streak to 36 consecutive senior‑level wins, with the last loss recorded in 2005.

Eleven different American players scored in the tournament, highlighting the team’s balanced offense. Canada’s squad earned a silver medal, and the event featured teams from around the world, underscoring the growing global profile of women’s lacrosse.
