The event is designed to serve as a season finale and is scheduled to take place every four years during years without Olympic Games or outdoor World Championships.

Serving as an ambassador for the event, Bolt expressed enthusiasm for the competition's goal of increasing media exposure and excitement within the sport. He specifically highlighted the significant prize money, noting that champions will receive $150,000, which is more than double the reward for a World Championship title. Bolt stated that such incentives encourage athletes to perform at their highest level.
