Usain Bolt registered for Manchester amateur football team

Eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt has been listed as a registered player for Wythenshawe Vets FC, an amateur over-35s football team based in south Manchester. The registration was discovered on the Football Association’s Full-Time system, though the club has not yet issued an official announcement regarding his involvement.

Bolt, 40, would join a squad notable for its collection of former Premier League and international players. The team competes in the Premier Division of the Cheshire Veterans Football League. Other registered players include former England and Liverpool striker Emile Heskey, former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia, and former Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse, alongside others such as Joleon Lescott, Danny Drinkwater, and Stephen Ireland.

This potential return to football follows Bolt’s previous attempts to pursue a professional career after retiring from athletics in 2017. He previously spent time training with the Australian side Central Coast Mariners, where he scored two goals in a friendly match, and has also trained with clubs such as Borussia Dortmund.
