USB-C technology uses Power Delivery to manage charging

USB-C technology utilizes a sophisticated process known as USB Power Delivery (PD) to manage how electricity is transferred to devices. Unlike older USB-A connections that provided a fixed 5 volts, USB-C enables a digital dialogue between the charger and the receiving device.

When a connection is made, the charger presents a menu of available voltages, and the device selects the most appropriate level.
