USB Scuola denounces contract fraud and calls for mobilization over modest salary hikes

The Italian teachers' union USB Scuola has condemned the collective‑bargaining contract signed in April by the major unions CGIL, CISL, UIL, SNALS, GILDA and ANIEF, labeling it a "contract fraud". The union says the advertised salary increases were misleading because they ignored the IVC already paid and were calculated from gross wages, resulting in net raises of only €30‑40 on average.

USB Scuola points to the August payslips, which confirm the modest increments and have sparked anger among public‑sector workers. The union reports that employees are threatening to withdraw from the signing unions, accusing them of inflating figures and failing to reflect the sharp rise in inflation.

The union blames the signing unions for eroding purchasing power over years, citing the impact of wars and militarisation on public‑sector wages. USB Scuola announced a campaign to place salary and contract issues at the centre of government policy and pledged to lead a mobilisation to restore dignity for public‑sector workers in Italy.
