USBridge-KVM 2.0 offers open-source remote system administration
The USBridge-KVM 2.0 has been introduced as an open-source IP-KVM designed for remote system administration, debugging, and bare-metal recovery. Built around the Radxa Zero 3W and the Rockchip RK3566 SoC, the device allows for out-of-band BIOS access and remote management of servers or PCs, even when they are unresponsive or have not yet booted.
Key technical features include HDMI video capture (up to 1080p), USB keyboard and mouse emulation, and virtual media mounting for ISO, VDI, and VMDK images. The device utilizes a Sunshine/Moonlight-based pipeline to provide low-latency video streaming, with reported latencies between 25ms and 75ms depending on resolution. Hardware specifications include Wi-Fi 6, two USB Type-C ports, a Micro HDMI output, and an integrated 240x240 IPS display.
A standout feature is the ‘BIOS-in-Terminal’ capability, which uses offline optical character recognition (OCR) to convert graphical pre-boot screens into text accessible via Secure Shell. This allows users to view and copy BIOS error codes directly through a terminal. The system also supports automation via Starlark scripts and can interface with AI models through the Model Context Protocol.
