USC coach Eric Musselman apologizes for altercation amid player lawsuit
USC men’s basketball head coach Eric Musselman is facing scrutiny following two separate incidents involving verbal altercations.
Musselman issued an apology to The California Post regarding a viral video from Manhattan Beach, California. The footage shows Musselman engaging in a heated dispute with a metal detectorist during a team photo session. Musselman stated, “I know the responsibilities that come with my role, and while I was trying to step in and support my coach, I definitely should have handled this situation better and will learn from this for the future.”
Separately, former USC player Chad Baker-Mazara has filed a lawsuit against the university and Musselman for an undisclosed amount. Baker-Mazara alleges that following a loss to Nebraska in February, Musselman launched into a “profanity-laced, racially-charged post-game locker room tirade” directed at him. Baker-Mazara, who was removed from the roster in March, claims the outburst was the reason for his dismissal.
