University of Southern California holds convocation and prepares for football season

The University of Southern California (USC) recently held its fall convocation ceremony, welcoming over 12,000 attendees to the University Park Campus. During his address, President Beong-Soo Kim encouraged the incoming class to pursue academic excellence through inquiry and noted the diverse achievements of the new students, including a record-breaking mountaineer and a recipient of India’s highest young civilian honor.

On the athletic front, the USC football program is preparing for its season opener against San Jose State. Head coach Lincoln Riley noted that the team is currently in ‘mock week,’ a period of intense preparation involving live-game simulations and facility management. The team was recently ranked No. 14 in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll.

Additionally, Riley addressed potential roster changes following a court ruling regarding collegiate eligibility. He stated he would ‘certainly look at’ adding former players who have signed NFL contracts if it serves the best interest of the team and its culture.
