USCGC Bertholf visits Ho Chi Minh City

The US Coast Guard cutter USCGC Bertholf arrived at the port of Ho Chi Minh City on November 1, marking the first visit by a US Coast Guard vessel to the city in 20 years.

The visit aims to strengthen maritime security cooperation and mutual trust between the US Coast Guard and the Vietnam Coast Guard. During the stay, the crew will engage in diplomatic activities, professional exchanges regarding maritime operations, and courtesy calls with local leaders and the Coast Guard Region 3 Command.

US Ambassador Jennifer Wicks noted that the visit coincides with the 250th anniversary of US independence and the third anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the United States and Vietnam. The mission reflects ongoing cooperation in maritime security, defense, and economic sectors.
