USCIS advises Venezuelan TPS beneficiaries on immigration alternatives

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has advised Venezuelan beneficiaries of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to explore alternative immigration pathways as their current protections are set to expire on October 2.

Depending on individual circumstances, eligible individuals may be able to apply for permanent residency via a green card, seek asylum, or request a change or extension of non-immigrant status. USCIS noted that eligibility for these alternatives depends on meeting specific legal requirements.

Authorities clarified that having a pending immigration application does not automatically guarantee the retention of all TPS benefits or employment authorization. Consequently, beneficiaries are encouraged to review their specific legal standing to determine viable ways to remain in the United States legally after the TPS expiration.
