USDA announces $25 billion for rural community investments
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced significant investments aimed at supporting rural communities and agricultural producers. Through its Rural Development program, the agency is allocating nearly $25 billion in fiscal year 2026 to strengthen essential infrastructure, expand housing, and bolster business opportunities nationwide.
In Oklahoma, these efforts include over $530 million in loans and grants. Specific projects include $20.8 million for a new water treatment plant in McCurtain County, emergency water line repairs in Osage County, and over $61 million to support small rural businesses and oil and gas enterprises. Additionally, $685,580 has been allocated to the Forest Grove School District to facilitate distance learning.
Separately, the USDA is investing $26.5 million in value-added agriculture projects. This funding is designed to assist producers in developing new products, conducting market research, and expanding their marketing capabilities.
