USDA launches Harvest to Hallways initiative for school meals

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have launched the ‘Harvest to Hallways’ initiative to improve school meal programs. The program aims to connect American farmers with local schools, invest in school kitchen infrastructure, and provide states with tools to serve more nutrient-dense meals to children.

The initiative includes up to $70 million in investments for school cafeteria infrastructure and up to $25 million in additional funding to expand local food procurement options. The effort is part of the Trump Administration’s ‘Make America Healthy Again’ agenda, focusing on bringing real, American-grown food into school cafeterias to support both student health and local agricultural markets.
