USDA projects record $13.8 billion in agricultural payments for 2025

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that agricultural price and revenue protection programs are projected to generate approximately $13.8 billion in gross payments to eligible producers during the 2025 crop year. This represents the largest annual disbursement since these mechanisms were established in 2014.

Administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA), the payments are distributed through the Agricultural Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs. These tools serve as a safety net for producers facing significant declines in commodity prices or agricultural revenue. The $13.8 billion figure is a gross amount and does not yet account for statutory 5.7% withholdings or individual payment limit reductions.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins stated that these funds are intended to increase liquidity for producers, allowing them to cover operational costs, prepare for upcoming harvests, and invest in their farming operations.
