USDA simplifies farm and ranch loan processes in the US
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is implementing changes to its lending practices to reduce paperwork and accelerate decision-making for qualified farmers and ranchers. Effective October 1, the Farm Service Agency (FSA) will make its ‘Application Fast Track’ process permanent.
Following a 2023 pilot program, the fast-track process was found to benefit approximately 23% of direct loan customers, reducing average processing times by eight days. These improvements aim to provide quicker access to capital for equipment replacement, operating costs, and herd expansion. The changes apply to both direct FSA loans and loans guaranteed through commercial lenders, such as banks and credit unions.
