USDA WASDE report updates global crop supply and demand estimates

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released its October 9, 2026, World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report, providing updated global supply and demand projections for corn, soybeans, and wheat.

In the United States, 2026 corn production is estimated at 15,716 million bushels with a yield of 177.6 bushels per acre. Soybean production is projected at 4,541 million bushels. U.S. stockpiles for the 2026-27 period are estimated at 1,677 million bushels for corn and 311 million bushels for soybeans.

Globally, the report serves as a critical monthly reset for commodity price expectations. Revisions to these inventories can influence Chicago futures, affecting export margins for major producers such as Brazil and Argentina. Previous estimates for the 2026/27 soybean crop placed Brazil at 186 million metric tons and Argentina at 50 million metric tons.
