Used car ownership and administrative costs in Hungary

Regarding administrative processes, while the Digital Public Administration (DÁP) application allows for some online interaction, full digital registration of a used car is not yet possible. Even when both buyer and seller cooperate through the app, personal visits to a government office are still required to surrender old documents and collect new registration papers. Furthermore, transfers involving businesses or dealers cannot be initiated via the application.

On the topic of maintenance, experts advise that when budget constraints prevent the purchase of premium tires, owners should opt for reliable mid-range or entry-level new tires rather than using aged premium tires or switching to older, less safe vehicles. Brands such as Apollo, Nexen, Toyo, and Falken are noted as viable options for safe, standard driving conditions.
