Used car prices in Germany vary significantly by color
An analysis of the German used car market conducted by mobile.de for the period between July 2025 and July 2026 reveals that vehicle color significantly impacts average pricing. Rare colors such as purple, yellow, and green command the highest prices, with purple vehicles averaging approximately 37,990 euros. These colors represent less than three percent of the total market supply and are frequently associated with high-end sports cars and luxury models.
In contrast, more conventional colors offer substantial savings for buyers. Silver and brown vehicles are the most affordable options, with silver cars averaging 18,320 euros and brown cars averaging 17,480 euros. The price gap between the most expensive and least expensive colors exceeds 20,000 euros.
The market remains dominated by neutral tones, which account for over half of all listings: black (21.8 percent), gray (17.4 percent), and white (14.9 percent). Blue and red follow as more common colorful alternatives, representing 8 percent and 4.3 percent of the market, respectively.
