Used digital camera market sees significant value increases

The market for used digital cameras has experienced a notable rise in value for specific models over the last five years. An analysis by the platform MPB, covering 883 items across Europe between October 2021 and October 2026, shows that certain compact and mirrorless cameras have seen buyback price increases of up to 321 percent.

Key models driving this trend include the Canon PowerShot G12, released in 2010, which saw its buyback price rise from 95 euros to 400 euros. Other notable increases include the Canon PowerShot G7 X II, which rose from 285 euros to 665 euros, and the Ricoh GR II, which increased from 385 euros to 735 euros.

Despite the ubiquity of smartphones, dedicated photographic tools remain essential for professionals and enthusiasts. While smartphones often rely on artificial intelligence and predictive algorithms to process images, dedicated cameras utilize larger sensors and physical optical depth to achieve high-quality visual narratives.
