Ushuaia businesses demand guarantees for cruise season to protect jobs

Business entities in Ushuaia, representing sectors such as tourism, hospitality, gastronomy, transport, and maritime activities, have expressed deep concern regarding the upcoming cruise ship season. In a joint statement, these organizations highlighted a lack of certainty concerning the operations of the Port of Ushuaia.

Local chambers warned that more than 2,000 jobs are at risk due to these uncertainties. They are calling on the provincial government and the National Ports and Navigation Agency (ANPYN) to implement a plan that guarantees access and operational stability.

This demand follows previous warnings from Juan Daniel González, president of the Ushuaia Chamber of Commerce, regarding the fragile state of the private sector. González noted that businesses are struggling with economic uncertainty and the potential impact of new tax burdens, which could affect profitability or lead to increased consumer prices.
