Ushuaia City Backs Peru Independence Celebration, Chamamé Festival

The municipal government of Ushuaia, represented by political liaison secretary Omar Becerra, participated in a protocol ceremony marking the 205th anniversary of Peru’s independence. The event, held in Plaza Perú, featured the raising of the Peruvian flag and a greeting from Mayor Walter Vuoto, emphasizing historic ties between Argentina and Peru and reaffirming support for Peru’s stance on the Falkland Islands.

The city also supported the third edition of the Chamamé Festival on 1 August at the Esther Fadul Cultural Center. Organized by Radio Monumental 94.9, the free event raised a modest contribution for Children’s Day and showcased local folk performers. Municipal authorities provided the venue and highlighted the importance of promoting regional music and cultural expression.
