Ushuaia launches Canal Beagle special‑zone maritime training program

The Centro de Formación y Capacitación en Actividades Marítimas “Malvinas Argentinas” (CECAFMA), together with the Escuela de Formación y Capacitación para el Personal Embarcado de la Marina Mercante de Ushuaia (EFOCAPEMM), will run a five‑day training course on the “Zona Especial Canal Beagle” from 24 to 28 August. The sessions, held at the Prefectura Naval building on Yaganes street in Ushuaia, aim to equip participants with the theoretical knowledge required to sit the exams for the Marinero de Zona Especial (ZE) and Patrón Motorista Profesional de Tercera certifications.

Director Sebastián Gauna explained that the program is designed to support artisanal fishing, passenger transport and navigation in the region’s channels. Inscription is open until 5 August via an online form, and the curriculum follows the regulations of the Prefectura Naval Argentina, preparing candidates for the practical, theoretical and geographic tests scheduled for October.
