Argentina Senate advances industry, disability inclusion and child‑welfare legislation

On 5 August 2026 the Argentine Senate’s commissions on Industry and Commerce and on Population and Human Development moved forward a series of bills and resolutions. The Industry and Commerce commission, chaired by Marcelo Lewandowski, presented two communications requesting executive information on the textile and metal‑working sectors and advanced eight declarations supporting industrial activity, including sustainable textile initiatives. It also proposed a law requiring restaurants to provide pictogram‑based menus to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

The Population and Human Development commission, led by Alicia Kirchner, approved ten declarations and a resolution covering children’s rights, disability inclusion, adoption, immigration and social integration. The commission recognised the Trancas Community Intervention Team for its work on disability, honoured the NGO CILSA’s 60‑year anniversary, and highlighted the inclusive bar “Espacio Juntarnos” in Tucumán. Additionally, a proposal was adopted to illuminate the Congress façade in blue each 19 September to mark the National Day of Deaf People, underscoring the Senate’s focus on visibility for disability rights.
