Argentina labor and public service updates
Argentina is seeing various developments in labor and public services. In Misiones, 110 Musimundo employees are awaiting payments following the company's bankruptcy and the court-ordered liquidation of assets.
In Tierra del Fuego, the Obra Social del Estado Fueguino (OSEF) and the Ministry of Health have signed a framework agreement to provide direct financing to public hospitals in Ushuaia, Río Grande, and Tolhuin, aiming to streamline healthcare access and administrative processes. Meanwhile, a dispute persists between the municipalities of Ushuaia and Río Grande regarding municipal salary scales, with union representatives arguing that basic scales do not reflect total compensation.
In other regions, the government has denied claims of declining private health insurance (prepagas) membership, stating that direct affiliates grew by over 370,000 since December 2023. In Comodoro Rivadavia, domestic workers reached an 8.6% wage agreement amid concerns over job losses in the oil and commercial sectors. In Chacabuco, municipal officials report that salaries remain 5% above inflation despite ongoing negotiations with unions.
