Mexico and international bodies host gender statistics summit

The XXVII International Meeting on Gender Statistics is taking place in Mexico City from October 27 to 29. Organized by INEGI, the Ministry of Women, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CEPAL, and UN Women, the summit aims to strengthen the production and use of gender-related data to guide public policy.

Under the theme “Consolidate and innovate at the start of the decade of action for the achievement of substantive gender equality and the care society,” the event brings together national statistics offices, international organizations, academia, and civil society. Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez, Secretary of Women for the Government of Mexico, emphasized that gender statistics are a collective construction necessary to address the realities of women's lives, including domestic work and caregiving responsibilities.
