Ushuaia officials review energy modernization and development projects

In Ushuaia, energy officials and the new board of the Fondo para la Ampliación de la Matriz Productiva Fueguina (FAMP) inspected the local power plant to review maintenance and modernization progress. Energy Minister Gabriela Castillo reported that FAMP-funded work includes turbine overhauls, with plans to address Solar turbines by January and the Rolls-Royce unit during a period of low consumption.

Castillo noted that while officials aim to avoid rotating power outages during these interventions, the energy scenario is being monitored to determine if a service schedule will be necessary.

Separately, Ushuaia Vice-Mayor Gabriela Muñiz Siccardi emphasized the need for public-private collaboration to drive local investment in tourism, fishing, and professional training. She also announced a municipal project to pave the access road to the Martial Glacier, which is currently awaiting authorization and a formal agreement from FAMP.
