ASL Toscana Nord Ovest disputes responsibility for school assistance cuts in Pisa
The Azienda USL Toscana Nord Ovest has responded to disputes regarding specialized assistance for students with disabilities in Pisa. Local political group ‘Città in Comune’ claims that the health authority (ASL) has refuted claims made by the Pisa Municipality, stating that the ASL never issued formal guidelines to reduce assistance. Instead, the ASL maintains that the responsibility for managing these services lies with local government entities.
In a separate context regarding regional health management, the ASL addressed statements from regional councilor Diego Petrucci. While Petrucci suggested that services remain inadequate despite nearly 3 billion euros in funding, the ASL cited data from the Scuola Sant’Anna di Pisa and AGENAS. The agency reported that its per capita service costs are below the regional average and that it has achieved 82% of its performance objectives, ranking among the best-performing health agencies in the region for economic and financial stability.
