Usman Khawaja suggests Matt Kuhnemann for Australian Test selection

Former Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has proposed that left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann be considered for the decisive final Test against South Africa. The suggestion comes as Australia seeks to respond to a heavy innings-and-31-run defeat in Gqeberha, which leveled the series 2-1.

Khawaja noted that while selection discussions have focused on Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon, Kuhnemann has been overlooked despite his proven ability in Test cricket. He argued that Kuhnemann’s left-arm spin could be particularly effective against a South African lineup composed mostly of right-handed batsmen, providing a way to keep scoring tight.

In the previous match, Australia opted to play without a frontline spinner, a decision that preceded their significant loss. While Scott Boland performed well with a five-wicket haul, the team's lack of spin was cited as a factor in the outcome.
