USPS releases new Forever stamps honoring photographer Linda McCartney
The United States Postal Service has released a new collection of Forever stamps honoring the artistic legacy of photographer Linda McCartney. The collection features five different images from her portfolio, focusing on nature and still-life photography. Designed by USPS art director Derry Noyes, the stamps are presented in a pane of 20.
McCartney, born Linda Eastman, rose to prominence in the 1960s as a chronicler of music culture, photographing iconic figures such as the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and Aretha Franklin. She was the first female photographer to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. While often recognized for her marriage to Paul McCartney, she established a significant reputation for her intimate and relaxed portraiture.
A first-day-of-issue ceremony was held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City to commemorate the release. The stamps are available for purchase at USPS branches nationwide.
