USPS releases new Hanukkah stamp featuring dreidel illustration

The United States Postal Service has released its ninth Hanukkah stamp, featuring a digital illustration of a dreidel. The stamp, designed by Lisa Perrin, depicts the traditional spinning top surrounded by flowers on a turquoise background, displaying the Hebrew letters ‘gimel’ and ‘hey’.

A first-day-of-issue ceremony was held at Touro Synagogue in New Orleans to commemorate the release. USPS Deputy General Counsel Carrie Rieger Brownlie participated in the event, noting the importance of celebrating cultural traditions and religious freedom through the agency’s offerings.

The Postal Service plans to produce 10 million of these stamps. The holiday of Hanukkah commemorates the Maccabean revolt and the miracle of the oil in the Temple in Jerusalem.
