USPS to honor photographer Linda McCartney with new stamp collection

The United States Postal Service will honor photographer, musician, and animal rights activist Linda McCartney with a new collection of Forever stamps. The release, featuring five distinct images of her nature and still life photography, is scheduled for Sept. 25 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

McCartney, born Linda Eastman, rose to prominence in the 1960s after her photography of the Rolling Stones was featured in Town and Country magazine. In 1968, she became the first female photographer to have her work appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine with a portrait of Eric Clapton. Her career included photographing numerous iconic rock figures and exhibiting work globally at institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The stamp collection, designed by USPS art director Derry Noyes, includes images such as sunflowers and a teapot. The stamps will be available for purchase at Post Offices and online starting on the release date.
