USPS unveils 2026 Diwali Forever stamp featuring rangoli art
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has released its 2026 Diwali Forever stamp, marking the second time the agency has issued a stamp commemorating the Festival of Lights, following the first release in 2016.
The stamp features an intricate rangoli pattern created by Sangita Bhutada, a Houston-based artist and native of India. The design was based on an eight-foot-diameter rangoli using vibrant colors such as blue, orange, green, red, and white. Bhutada noted that the USPS requested bright colors to ensure the design rendered effectively on the stamp.
The unveiling took place at the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C., attended by Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra, USPS Senior Vice President Shibani Gambhir, and the artist herself. Ambassador Kwatra described the collaboration as an effort long in the making.
