USPS whistleblower warns rushed mail ballot system could disenfranchise voters

A whistleblower has raised alarms regarding the U.S. Postal Service’s efforts to implement a new IT system designed to manage mail ballot delivery under a recent executive order. According to a 20-page complaint released by Senator Richard Blumenthal, the system is being developed in a rushed and unreliable manner, potentially jeopardizing the voting process for millions of Americans.

The whistleblower alleges that the agency is attempting to build a complex system in just three months—a process that typically requires over a year. The complaint describes the development as “secretive, rushed, chaotic, and fundamentally flawed,” noting that even minor scanning errors could prevent large batches of ballots from reaching voters.

Senator Blumenthal characterized the efforts as a deliberate attempt to suppress votes for political reasons. While a federal judge has issued a temporary order to freeze the implementation of these new procedures, the administration is appealing the ruling. Election officials have warned that the system may not be ready before mail ballots begin being distributed in certain regions.
