USR Cluj demands resignation of School Inspectorate head Marinela Marc

Representatives of USR Cluj have called for the resignation of Marinela Marc, the head of the Cluj County School Inspectorate (ISJ Cluj). The political party alleges that Marc was appointed through political channels by PNL leaders without passing the required examinations.

Recent controversy involves a directive sent by Marc to schools in Cluj-Napoca, instructing them to ensure student participation in a religious service held at the start of the school year. Following public outcry, the Inspectorate later clarified that participation was not mandatory.

This is not the first time Marc has faced calls for resignation. In early 2024, USR demanded her removal following a controversial project involving the scanning of students' palms for professional orientation purposes, a method criticized by specialists and eventually abandoned. USR also cited previous concerns regarding the influence of political parties within the educational institution.
