USTA National Championships crown Selvan and Frodin

Shristi Selvan and Thea Frodin have secured major titles at the USTA Billie Jean King National Championships.

In the Girls’ 16s division, the top-seeded Selvan defeated teammate Aarini Bhattacharya 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in San Diego. The all-JTCC final saw both players win six consecutive matches to reach the championship. Selvan earned a USTA Gold Ball and a main draw wild card into the US Open Junior Championships.

In the Girls’ 18s division, Thea Frodin won the singles title by defeating Janae Preston 6-1, 6-0. Frodin, who received a main draw US Open singles wild card for her victory, expressed her desire to compete against high-seeded players on Arthur Ashe Stadium. Her performance was witnessed by several tennis legends, including Billie Jean King and Rosie Casals.
