USTDA and C-Squared Africa partner to expand digital connectivity in Ghana

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and C-Squared Africa have signed an agreement to conduct a feasibility study regarding the deployment of fibre-optic cables along Ghana’s existing electricity infrastructure. The initiative aims to expand affordable and reliable digital connectivity throughout the country.

The agreement was finalized during the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Forum 2026 in Accra. The forum addressed Ghana’s AI ambitions, focusing on themes of deployment, diffusion, and supportive policy. During the event, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation Samuel Nartey George discussed the government’s National AI Strategy, which emphasizes national data sovereignty, local capacity building, and talent development.

The study seeks to leverage existing utility networks to facilitate digital expansion, supporting the infrastructure requirements—such as connectivity, power, and data centers—necessary for the nation's technological goals.
