USTDA funds feasibility study for Subic Drydock expansion

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and Subic Drydock Corporation (SDC) have signed an agreement to fund a feasibility study for the expansion of SDC’s ship repair and maintenance facility in Subic, Zambales.

The study, to be conducted by California-based DM Consulting, Inc., aims to develop a construction-ready design package and financial analysis for extending the company’s existing approach pier by approximately 169 meters. This expansion is intended to overcome current draft and berth limitations, allowing the facility to accommodate larger vessels and undertake repairs that are currently not possible.

Signed during the inaugural Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) Investors Forum, the project is part of efforts to strengthen maritime infrastructure and supply-chain resilience in the Philippines. The results of the study are expected to help mobilize the necessary financing for the eventual procurement and construction of the expanded facility.
