USV Iași prepares for new academic year amid student housing demand
The Ionescu de la Brad University of Life Sciences (USV) in Iași is set to begin the 2026-2027 academic year on September 14, 2026. Student move-in processes are scheduled to begin as early as September 10, with freshmen arriving first, followed by upperclassmen.
University housing remains a critical resource due to rising private rental costs in Romanian university cities. In Iași, average monthly rents for a two-room apartment reach approximately 450 euros, while prices in cities like Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, or Bucharest can climb to 600 euros.
At USV Iași, accommodation for approximately 1,600 students is available, though demand exceeds 2,000 requests. Monthly rates for university dormitories vary based on comfort levels and student status, ranging from 335 to 900 lei for budget-funded students and 435 to 1,000 lei for tuition-paying students. Due to ongoing furniture installation in the recently renovated A4 dormitory, some students will be temporarily housed in other facilities.
